Bridgebuilder in Schools

The main thrust of our work in schools is through direct involvement by the Schools Workers - Rosie (Team Leader), Rachel (Primary Worker) and Tony (Gap year student) – and the Bridgebuilder Voluntary Schools Workers. Our programme in schools includes assemblies and lessons in both primary and secondary schools. Lessons are often linked to the Milton Keynes Religious Education Syllabus, focusing on Christian beliefs and views or perspectives on contemporary topics.

Bridgebuilder in Primary Schools

Besides the assemblies and lessons taken by Rachel, there are also a number of special projects in primary schools that take place regularly during the academic year. These are Biblos, JesusQuest, Christmas and Easter Cracked. In addition the M.O.U.S.E. Team visits about 40 schools each June and July, preparing Yr 6 primary children for their move up to secondary school.

Bridgebuilder in Secondary Schools

Rosie and Tony are regularly taking assemblies and RE lessons in the secondary schools, as well as running special projects. Secondary work also is taking on new dimensions with PSHE self-esteem and positive behaviour workshops, creative art classes, workshop days on anti-bullying and extra-curricular activities.

Emulate
Emulate is a Christian Union package running in many of our MK secondary schools. Students are meeting as a core group to design advertisements, session plans and to look at how to lead CU groups in their schools. There are now 7 Emulates either running or due to start.

Emulate is designed for young people and is run by young people with the support of Bridgebuilder staff. The young people involved will be attending concerts and residentials and receiving training to give them the maximum support and networking opportunities possible.

Open Mic
This is a once a term event run by young people. Live performers / music and music videos make up the session. In addition there is a non-alcoholic cocktail bar, ‘pub’ quizzes and snacks!! For ages 12-17.
