MOUSE Team

M.O.U.S.E. is a transition project for year 6 pupils. The acronym stands for Moving On Up to Secondary Education. It is a road show style presentation that supports the important work of schools in preparing students to confidently make that big move from primary to secondary school. The session is delivered by one of the Bridgebuilder schools workers and a team of young people who have just completed Yr 11 or 13. Through a variety of activities pupils are encouraged to think about the changes, challenges and choices they will face as they move up. There are quizzes, games, a drama based on a bible character that faced changes, challenges and choices and a chance to ask questions which are answered honestly and positively by the Yr 11 & 13 experts. The presentation lasts about an hour. It is packed with variety and fun and encourages pupils to think about their own values and to make a positive start at secondary school.

Yr 11 and 13 experts are recruited for the M.O.U.S.E. team from local churches. Before taking the project into schools for a two week tour, they have a week of training and preparation. The young people gain a huge amount of confidence and develop skills in children’s work, presentation, drama and a whole host of other practical things. M.O.U.S.E. has been and continues to be a platform for young people to springboard onto the bigger and better things that God has in store for them.
